Dr Margaret Leach graduated from the University of NSW in 1991, and completed her Physician, Gastroenterology and Therapeutic Endoscopy training at Royal North Shore Hospital in 1999, which included a year of research in motility and brain-gut interactions with Professor John Kellow. She is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (RACP) and accredited for Diagnostic, Therapeutic gastroscopies and colonoscopies, with the Conjoint Committee in Endoscopy. Dr Margaret Leach is a member of the Gastroenterological Society of Australia, the Australian Medical Association and the American Gastroenterological Association.

She is currently a Consultant Gastroenterologist at Dee Why Endoscopy Unit, Dee Why. Dr Margaret Leach has provided Gastroenterological services in Western NSW from Dubbo once monthly since 2006. From 1999 to 2016 she was a Consultant Gastroenterologist at the Sydney Adventist Hospital, Wahroonga and has also previously worked at the Northern Beaches Hospital in Frenchs Forest.
